5 question Blitz with fashionista Lucille K.

I love love love meeting interesting people with a strong sense of fashion!

For about 6 months, I was part of the Miss Afrique Montreal committee and got the privilege of helping with the auditions. I'll always remember my reaction when Lucille K walked in the room: This tiny and somewhat shy but goofy girl had style! Her uniqueness is so captivating I had no choice but to feature her on the blog!

By the way, Lucille is extremely down to earth and you will get to know to know a little bit of her with the following 5 question blitz but before, here are a few facts about this girl:

-She proudly represented her country of Burundi at the Miss Afrique Montreal 2012 pageant 2 months ago: She was the 2nd runner up! Her reaction was priceless, you guys should've been seen it! I thought she was going to faint of happiness.
-Lucille lives in Ottawa, not in Montreal.
-I said it before but she is TINY! Hehehe.
-Her love for BOW TIES adds some punch to her unique style. Matter of fact, her name on Twitter is @BowTied. Follow her!

5 Questions Blitz

Cuuute
1. I love your style! It is bold and creative! What are your favorite spots: Do you like vintage?

Thank you so much! Of course, I like vintage but my selections are restricted and very basic! I'm not VERY into vintage, but some jewelry and simple pieces of clothing (like denim), those I love! I also shop in the least expensive and most random stores. Mix & match type of thing, while saving lots of money!

2. When and how did your love for bow ties start?

Hmm., I don't remember when I fell for bow ties but I can tell you that I fell hard in love with them! They definitely compliment an outfit & aren't expensive!! Ladies, bowties are NOT just for men! My first bowtie was a black one and I thought it was too plain so I'm going towards more colorful ones now to add a lil'sumtin some to my classy or everyday wear. I also like to change things up and wear a scarf as a bowtie or a normal tie!

3. In terms of fashion icons, who inspires you the most and why?

I'm not really inspired by celebrities. Why? Simply because

Vintage/Second hand fashion: ADS

Those who know me well already know that I have the capability to search in stores for hours....sales, Zara, Winners...and.....ADS. What is ADS???...... It's the abbreviation for....Armee du Salut aka the Salvation Army!! Yeah, i said it.

SURPRISED?? If you knew how much stuff I found there. The same way i'll pay over 150$ for jeans, I'll find something cute there for 2,99. Who would've thought?

So today, my friend Cathy and I stopped there and found a lot of cute stuff. Did you know that a couple of well known brands DONATE NEW STUFF to them? :) They rip the tag but hello....I know the logo! Anyways, we found a couple of cute things, and on top of that, the shoes were 50% off....I mean, they were already like, 10$ or less so that was a little too good to be true. Usually the shoes suck, but I guess the ADS in Brossard is different, cuz we found nice ones: Nine West, Aldo and more.

Check out some cool stuff we found!

Cathy's NINE WEST stilettos: 4,50$

My best friend and her super cute little wallet (real leather): 1$

Nice ALDO wedges: 4$

Gladiator shoes: 2,50$ (still speechless)

They also have great second hand books, vinyls, movies, home decoration and more, for a VERY, extremely low price. I suggest that you try going someday, and if you don't want anyone seeing you in there, wear a hat and sunglasses......hehe. Being stylish and fashionable doesn't have a specific price tag.

In the past, we have found things such as:
-An original Marie Saint-Pierre vest
-A GAP jean jacket
-A whooooole bunch of cute little purses and clutches
-Armani Exchange jean shorts.... and more

The ones where I have found the coolest things are:
-In Brossard, next to the Terminus Panama
-The one on Notre Dame, corner Guy in Montreal

This is dedicated to my ADS partners in crime: Jeanne Michaud-Hedge and Cathy K

Fellas, this one is for you!

Just read this AMAZING article called: "I'm broke, what do I do now?" on http://bitchielife.necolebitchie.com.

All the men out there that are on a budget, I would suggest you read it. Just ignore the first part about first date sex though.... And I quote my favorite part:

"You won’t find a female baller in the club, you’ll find her at the most expensive restaurant in town with all her friends.  Secret: Women will ball out major on food."

SO TRUE! Me and my girls do this thing every two weeks, when we get paid:  Every two Fridays, we enjoy a night at one of Montreal's finest restaurants and splurge on apetizers (foie gras, tartare etc.), creative entrees, aged bottles of wine or 10-20 year porto and more. We won't be spending that at the club, trust me! Although we're on a budget, we'd rather spend our money on a gastronomical experience. This week, we will be going to Le Local, in the Old Port...

Guys...Aldo has great shoes, you won't necessarily impress us with your show off brands...

Showin some love to the stores Olivia and Boodwar :)

It was about time for me to talk about my FAVORITE STORE in downtown Montreal!
Located in the super trendy Cours Mont-Royal, this store keeps amazing me! I remember a couple of years ago, my friend Jennifer told me she worked at Olivia and Boodwar (different stores, but with similar clothes and the same owner). I was like huh? Wtf is that store? Bref, I thought I would be super expensive because of its location....
I was WRONG! Not only the items at Olivia and Boodwar are NOT expensive at all (I think the most expensive item is around 60$), but the clothes are original, trendy, sexy but not trashy and fashion forward! This store reminds me of the trendy mini boutiques I went to in Italy, especially one called Dixie in Florence. Almost every time I have an event, I stop there to pick up something I know no one else will have!....well maybe someone else does but I have not come across anyone that had one of the multiple items I bought in these stores...YAY!!! And wow, their sales rack? Amazing! I always manage to find something. Even if it is not my size, I find a way to make if fit anyways because it's sooo gorgeous :)

Thanks Jen for making me discover this beautiful store, and I will certainly remain a loyal shopper for the years to come!

Oh and by the way, now they have a shoe and accessories store! Located in the same indoor mall!

Click Here to see what they have on the website!

Here are some of the beautiful items I have bought there in the past year. P.S. The brown belt that you see on most of the pictures (my all time favorite belt) is actually from Le Château. It is the most expensive item on these pics...lol...it was 40$.

Dress: 24,99$ at Boodwär
Shoes: 9,99$ at Olivia shoe and accessories store! yay

Dress: On sale for 19,99$ at Boodwär

Shirt: Olivia, 9,99$ (it was a Large! But fit nice anyways)

Nice loose shirt: Olivia, 9,99$.

"What Sassou Wore": Montreal Fashion Week (Day 3)

Okay so I just started blogging, i suck with HTML and I took wayyy too many notes about the 5 fashion shows I attended today.

I will DEFINITELY talk to you guys about all that, but not now. It's almost 4 a.m. and I'm starting to see double...lol

In the meanwhile, here's what I wore today :)

-Dress/Shirt:
Rainbow Miami, 12.99$ (HA! How bout that??)
-Belt:
H&M Montreal, 19.99$ (funny that the belt is more expensive than the shirt)
-Stockings: Pharmaprix, forgot the brand, 5.99$ on special
-Boots:
Aldo (250 Ste-Catherine Est, H2X 1L4), 119.99$
-Necklace:
Guess (gift from my cousin who works at Guess hehehe)
-Earrings:
H&M 6.99
-Hair by ME (HA!) but original haircut and beautiful color by Nadège at Mordicus Sebastien (541 rue Ontario Est, Montréal 514-849-5108) she is GREAT!!!

The trick to a killer outfit: Color and Accessories!!! I don't think that dress/shirt would have looked as nice without the belt and jewelry.
