Day 9: How important is education?

That's a touchy one. You know why? Because I completely believe in education at home and in school, but I also believe that you also need to be WILLING to apply it to your life for it to be effective.

Let me break it down for you....

You can go to the best schools, have the most educated parents and have the best grades. But if you don't give a damn or if you get influenced by certain people with a different type of education or a different frame of mind, you might end up acting a certain way that may not necessarily reflect your background. On the other hand, some people may not have access to the best education (either at home or in school) but have the willingness to learn more and go further in life and therefore, might be driven by his or her self motivation to make moves and decisions to have access to a better education. I remember having this conversation with some friends in D.C...we were arguing and some people were saying that with all of the technology, many people can have access to the outside world...However, when you look at children in 3rd world countries living in poverty, some may never have access to the most basic type of education, regardless of their IQ or willingness. However, this whole subject is another debate.

In other words, I believe that in North America, we are blessed in terms of education and the technology supporting it. But you need to be WILLING and you need to BELIEVE IN IT. And most important of all, EDUCATION STARTS AT HOME.

That's all I'm gonna say.
