[BEAUTY] Facial care for glowing and healthy skin

If there is one thing that girls  of all nationalities have in common, it is that we all want beautiful skin. Everyone has different skin regimens but I have noticed that it all starts from within: Be healthy, and it will show on your skin. Of course, there are exceptions which are often issued from genetics, I mean if everyone in your family has gorgeous skin regardless of what they do, there is a big chance you will get gorgeous skin.

However, I have found that these couple of tricks were helpful to me and others, especially with Montreal's harsh and constantly changing weather.

See my tips below! You don't need makeup or photoshop to have nice skin. Simply modify your regimen!

Before you do anything, it is important to see a dermatologist or esthetician to help you in determining your skin type and to assess which products are best suited for you.

-Always remove your makeup before going to bed
About a year ago, I ran out of makeup removing wipes and started searching the net for DIY makeup removers. I found this recipe and have been using it ever since! Olive oil is great for your skin AND removes makeup! It's practically free. Try it!

-Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize.
I can never say this enough! Moisturize your face as often as needed, day or night. You should also consider getting a facial for an intensive moisturizing treatment.

-Use sunscreen every day!
The proper way of using it is to
apply it on top of your moisturizer as often as needed. I recently discovered this (Thank you, DL Esthetique): Sunscreen that is incorporated in your moisturizer will not be as effective as it will be absorbed by your skin which contrary to its main purpose: To act as a SHIELD/PROTECTOR to your skin! Sunscreen should remain on the SURFACE of your skin. Interesting!

-Drink LOTS of water.
At least 2 litres (8 glasses) a day!

-SLEEP!
There's a big difference between a "I had 5h of sleep" face and a "I had 8h of sleep" face.

-Eat well!
You should eat plenty of fruits and vegetables every day. I had a lot of trouble with that and then found that juicing and smoothies made it easier for me to incorporate these in my diet. This video is helpful if you have questions about juicing.

-Get some vitamin supplements
At home, we all take a good multivitamin, flaxseed oil, B12 and vitamin D every day. However, i

-Be nice to your skin
Don't be harsh. Handle it with care. Apply products gently. Don't scratch it roughly. Don't pop your pimples. And the list goes on...

-I've noticed that ever since I started drinking a green smoothie every day, my face has been glowing!

-Add Chia seeds to your diet.

Chia seeds do not have a particular taste and you can add a spoonful to your smoothies, cereal, oatmeal or more to get your Omega 3. You can get the ground type for under 10$ at your local natural health store. I recently read on my favourite health/fitness blog HeyFranHey that:

"The Omega-3 oils in the Chia seeds give you beautiful glowing skin, hair and nails. The anti-oxidants keep your skin tight and youthful as well as your immune system strong and steady. [...] make sure you buy the kind that is already ground so your body can absorb it better."

-Exfoliate weekly
Get rid of that dead skin and those black spots! You don't have to spend a lot of money for a good exfoliator: I have been using St Ives' Apricot scrub for years and it costs less than 10$ (Less than 5$ for the Equate brand at Wal Mart: it's the SAME thing).

That's it for my tricks guys!

What do you do to take care of your skin?
